The Young Professionals Forum (YPF) is an inclusive forum aimed at CILT members aged 35 and under

Our Aims are to:

  • Provide opportunities for professional development
  • Provide opportunities for networking
  • Engage new and existing members
  • Provide a voice back into the industry

Our Key Principles are:

  • Promote the benefits of being a member of CILT and the Young Professionals Forum
  • Generate new interest and involvement
  • Be approachable, adaptable and explore new opportunities

“CILT has supported me to develop my career in transport from a graduate to an experienced transport professional, through skills development, CPD opportunities including regular evening events and the annual Young Professionals Conference, and by enabling me to network with a vast range of professionals from across the breadth of logistics and transport. As a member of the YPF I have had the opportunity to meet other young professionals and leading industry figures from across logistics and transport.  I have been able to develop, expand and hone my organisational and management skills as part of the organising group for the annual CILT YP Conference and, more recently, as a member of the Scottish National CILT Committee.  Gaining my chartered membership was an excellent way to demonstrate and gain recognition of the skills I have developed through my involvement with the CILT and the YPF.  The standing of CMILT in the profession has assisted me in securing promoted posts within the local government sector.”

Young Railway Professionals

Young Railway Professionals is a special interest group which may also appeal to our CILT members who are railway specialists.

The Young Railway Professionals have come to together through the younger members' sections of the Rail Engineers Forum (REF), which is comprised of the Institution of Railway Operators (IRO), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (IRSE), Institution of Engineering & Technology (IET), Permanent Way Institution (PWI) and The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in the UK (CILT). We do however welcome people who are looking to build a career in the Railway, with no formal institute affiliation.
