If you have ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at the country’s most well-known logistics company, then this visit is for you. You will have the chance to visit Eddie Stobart's innovative head office in Warrington. As well as being home to their service support teams, their training academy is located there which caters for induction training, driver CPCs, management courses and much more. You will get to see where new vehicles are prepared with the distinctive Eddie Stobart livery (including the famous female names) and subsequently decommissioned after 2-3 years of service. Their Chief Operating Officer, David Pickering, will share the latest news about the company, following their listing on the London Stock Exchange earlier this year, and you will get the chance to see how a long-haul driver, or 'Tramper' as they are known internally, lives during their week on the road. The event is being hosted by the Cheshire group but members of other North West groups are welcome. A site map and directions, plus joining instructions, will be provided nearer the time. Photography will be allowed. Please notify the CILT in advance if you suffer from any food allergies

Speaker: John Allcock, Chairman, Wrexham-Bidston Rail Users Association
The Borderlands Line provides an important link between North East Wales and the Merseyrail network for connectivity throughout the Liverpool area. The Wrexham-Bidston Rail Users’ Association believes that, with its current service, the “Borderlands Line” significantly underperforms its potential. A number of key organisations now recognise that this railway corridor could and should provide a more effective link between the communities, work and leisure locations it connects in the cross-border region.
