We welcome to our meeting Peter Frost from the Kilbride Group who are developing proposals for a new rail freight terminal at Four Ashes, near Cannock in Staffordshire.
The West Midlands has a shortage of suitable quality development land for large scale rail-linked logistics warehousing. Kilbride Rail has selected a 465 acre site to promote as a Strategic Rail Freight Interchange combining a large intermodal rail terminal with logistics warehousing. The site is unique in that it has excellent road and rail infrastructure which will enable the largest sized containers to be moved on the rail network to the rail terminal.

Speaker: Andrew Dartnell FCILT, Chairman, Staffordshire Group CILTUK
Our Chairman, Andrew, has, for more than forty years, planned and accompanied groups of members, some with their wives and guests, on tours to countries far and wide across the world. The main reason for these tours has been to observe how other countries plan and operate their logistics and transport services, noting their many and different activities whilst undertaking their essential tasks of moving people and goods.
What started as a long-weekend away in Brussels for eight people has expanded, over the years, and the group has now visited destinations over four continents from San Francisco to Hong Kong
Andrew will touch upon some happy and interesting experiences over these past 40 years with planning and operating these International Study Tours.

In these challenging times, the need for logistics, transport and supply-chain professionals to compete effectively and efficiently is more critical than ever. Glacially slow economic growth, austerity measures and reduced budgets require that companies supply chains are operating as efficiently as possible.
The purpose of this CILT event is to highlight the benefits to your business that benchmarking will provide. Benchmarking involves a review of your business processes aimed at providing a comprehensive understanding of your performance in relation to similar organisations and with overall industry best practice.
The CILT LogMark Benchmarking Club is a business management tool that facilitates gap-analysis of logistics, transport and supply-chain operational activity using widely accepted KPI’s that cover inventory management, transport management, risk management, human resourcing, customer service, operations management and other business disciplines. LogMark provides its members with a comprehensive survey, guaranteed data security, a club-based benchmarking network, and independently audited results.
