Powerday help to reopen historic Earlsfield ABC

15 December 2016/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Corporate News

Some of London’s leading boxers along with London ABA officials and Shadow Sports Minister Rosena Allin-Khan reopened Earlsfield Amateur Boxing Club (ABC) earlier this week following major refurbishment of their facilities thanks to Powerday’s partnership with London Amateur Boxing Association (ABA).

Earlsfield ABC has been producing champion boxers and serving the local community of Wandsworth, South West London for over 70 years.  The new state-of-the-art facilities include a new mezzanine floor, fitness and viewing areas, plus new female changing rooms.

The official opening took place on Monday 5th December with Powerday Chairman Mick Crossan in the company of 2016 Rio Olympic Games Super Heavy weight Silver Medallist Joe Joyce, Current British Champion Bradley Skeete, and Former World Champion Richard Williams.

Mick Crossan commented : “We were delighted to attend yesterday’s event and celebrate the opening of Earlsfield’s new world class facilities.  This high achieving club will now be able to continue its great work, benefiting local young people and the wider community for generations to come, and producing the boxing champions of the future. This is another project that has benefitted directly from the Powerday development programme working with the London ABA and I’m very proud to see the new facilities created as a result and meet the inspirational volunteers who tirelessly commit their time to helping the young people of the area”.

The reopening of the Club also saw Mick Crossan officially launch of the Crossan Family Foundation for Sport.  Focused on improving the lives of young Londoners through sport, the Foundation brings Powerday and the Crossan family’s charitable activities together under one entity with a clear mission to increase sports participation particularly in amateur boxing and rugby union.
