CILT(UK) Distance Learning
The CILT(UK) has a long established distance learning arm which is able to offer the
opportunity to study for the CILT qualifications wherever they are based in the world.
We will provide you with a dedicated distance learning advisor to support you
throughout the learning process. Your contact with your tutor will be via email and
telephone. When you enrol with the CILT Distance Learning, we will provide
you with the full standards or syllabus for the qualification and guidance on what is
expected from you to achieve each qualification. We will also provide you with
comprehensive learning materials for each qualification and access to our electronic
resources in our Knowledge Centre to assist you in your learning.

guidance needed to enable you to select the best level of qualification for you.

Thinking of a career in logistics and transport?
The CILT(UK) Level 1 Award has been designed
specifically for school students and provides an entry-level introduction to the
sector. It allows students to gain an understanding of the basic functions and
operations in logistics and transport, along with key knowledge and skills in order to
progress to the next level.
New to the sector?
The CILT(UK) Level 2 Certificate provides an introduction to
logistics and transport, allowing individuals to specialise with a choice of optional
units such as ‘Introduction to Planning and
Operating Freight Transport’. It is designed to allow the acquisition of a
good knowledge base upon which to build, as well as an introduction to the skills
required for a career in the sector.
The Level 3 Certificate follows on from this, developing and
expanding core knowledge and offering an introduction to management.
Looking to progress in your career?
The CILT(UK) Level 5 Professional Diploma and the Level 6
Advanced Diploma are designed for more experienced practitioners and
Progression can be made from level 5 and level 6 to the
distance-learning MSc in International Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme offered in conjunction with the University of South Wales.
How long will each qualification take to complete?
There are recommended guided learning hours (GLH) for each level and your distance
learning advisor will guide you on how much time on average you will need to set aside
for individual study each week. In addition, it is important to note that there
are time limits set by the Awarding Organisation within which the qualifications need
to be completed. These are:
The CILT(UK) Level 1 Award in Logistics and Transport – within one
The CILT(UK) Level 2 Certificate in Logistics and Transport – within two
The CILT(UK) Level 3 Certificate in Logistics and Transport – within two
The CILT(UK) Level 5 Professional Diploma in Logistics and Transport –
within three years
The CILT(UK) Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Logistics and Transport –
within three years
