Following the success of the three previous Logistics Outsourcing Lifecycle Events covering Strategic Planning, Procurement & Contracts and Implementation, the Outsourcing and Procurement Forum will continue with an event on the 19th May 2016 that will focus on the third stage in the lifecycle: ‘Managing the Operation’ and posing the question, “The contract has been signed – what could possibly go right?”

As before, there will be a mixture of presentations and expert led discussion workshops. There will also be a selection of papers related to the topic given out on the day.

The event will include key note speaker presentations on the following topics:

  • SRM vs. CRM
How to manage the relationship in the operational phase?
  • Governance and culture
Is there an optimal Governance Model? Is cultural alignment needed as well for a successful operational phase?

These will be followed by a series of discussion groups in line with the sessions that proved hugely popular at the previous events.  All discussions are led by an expert and experienced facilitator and written up by the forum committee.

Topics for the discussion groups are:

  • Innovation
True innovation or continuous improvement? Reward and commercial impact? Brain space and affordability?
  • Change management and exception management
Volume, mix, scope and key staff changes can all have significant impact on the operational phase
  • Managing conflict
What are common types of conflict and what causes them?  To which extent can conflict be prevented by a rigorous contract and implementation phase?  How to manage conflict once it arises?

After the event, our hosts, Wright Hassall, will be offering an optional but free 45 minute contract law and best practice workshop on all aspects of legal contracts relating the procurement and outsourcing of logistics services.  Bring your questions and get the benefit of their advice!

This event will be promoted within CIPS and CILT and discount event fees are available to members of both organisations.

Refreshments and a light buffet will also be provided.
