Connected Places Catapult is working in collaboration with the Department for Transport, Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, Advanced Propulsion Centre and other stakeholders to investigate options for how to transition to zero-emission, road-based, Long-Haul Heavy Goods Vehicles (LHHGVs).

The Challenge
We know change in this sector needs to happen. In June 2019, the UK became the first major economy in the world to pass laws to end its contribution to global warming by 2050. The target requires the UK to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, compared with the previous target of at least 80% reduction against 1990 levels. To achieve this target, a shift to zero-emission technologies for road vehicles is required, and this includes freight vehicles. However, there remains uncertainty about which zero-emission technology is most suitable for decarbonising road freight, particularly LHHGVs.

Purpose of this Engagement
Decarbonisation of HGVs will require many organisations to work together. The purpose of this engagement is to seek your opinions on our emerging thoughts.

Whilst we need to gather as much information as possible, we understand some questions maybe less relevant for certain stakeholders, and as such questions can be skipped. We think the survey takes approximately 40 minutes to complete in full. Not every question needs to be answered.

Thank you for participating in our survey.
