The advances in maritime activity over 160 years has progressed from sail to steam to containerisation and now to bespoke supply chain solutions, to compete with overland truck services and promote modal shift supporting the environment. 

The  planned event being held in Liverpool on the 27th September 2016 will promote the new barge service connecting Liverpool with Salford using the Manchester Ship Canal.
