Free conference explores collaboration and digitalisation in the supply chain

27 March 2017/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain, Corporate News

The digitalisation of management and information processes in logistics offers breakthrough opportunities for companies. But how can companies achieve complete visibility of all participants in each of their global supply chains? On 26th April 2017, a free conference titled “The Benefits of Collaboration in a Digital Supply Chain” will provide an overview on collaboration and digitalisation in the supply chain and explore related risks, opportunities, problems and solutions.

The supply chain is a globalised market and the fastest growing department in business today. While IT solutions can help to provide a complete cockpit view of all internal and external supply chain partners, many businesses have not yet achieved satisfactory levels of supply chain visibility and collaboration both inside and outside their business. What are the unique challenges here? Why is visibility particularly important? How should a business approach and implement a collaboration and visibility strategy? And what is the influence of the internet of things and big data on everyday process flows?

These are the questions that will be explored during the conference “The Benefits of Collaboration in a Digital Supply Chain”, which takes place on Wednesday, 26th April at the Thistle Hotel in London Heathrow’s Terminal 5. Organised by AXIT, a specialist for cloud-based IT solutions for the management of supply chains, and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, CILT(UK), the conference will highlight the key areas businesses need to focus on to strengthen their supply chain, increase their return on investment, improve the customer experience and demonstrate the integrity and value of their brand. Seven industry experts will offer their views, experience and innovations. There will be a chance for open dialogue to share valuable insights about the impact of successfully digitalising extended supply chains.

The following speakers have been confirmed:
• Stefan Reidy – CEO, Arviem
• Phil Lavin – Development Consultant IT, Siemens AXIT
• Mark Ferrer – Delivery Director, Siemens Rail
• Nick Wildgoose – Global Supply Chain Product Leader, Zurich Insurance
• Nicola Robinson – Knowledge Manager, Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply
• Vivian Braun – WW Solutions Marketing Manager, IBM
• Nabil Lodey – Head of Fujitsu GlobeRanger, Fujitsu

Phil Lavin, Development Consultant IT at Axit, said: “Globalised supply chains can be extremely complex, but by automating collaboration with all supply chain partners, total visibility can be achieved. The right solution links the internal silos, customers, accounts, carriers, ports etc. by connecting them digitally, thereby reducing risks. That’s why precise collaboration as a key part of the overall business strategy is a sign to potential investors of the integrity and value of a business.”

The Conference “The Benefits of Collaboration in a Digital Supply Chain” takes place on Wednesday, 26th April 2017, from 9.30 am to 4pm, at the Thistle London Heathrow Terminal 5, Bath Road, Longford, UB7 0EQ. Online registration is now open at www.axit.de/en/cilt.
