First-rate industry bodies partner with Safer Logistics Scotland

Visitors to Safer Logistics Scotland (part of the Scotland Works exhibition) at the Glasgow SEC on May 3-4 will benefit from key safety learnings from these top industry bodies.

The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) is a membership organisation dedicated to promoting excellence in logistics. It constitutes the greatest resource of professional expertise within its areas of interest and has run many forums designed to promote best practice in logistics safety, raise awareness of safety concerns and influence safety improvements. 

At Scotland Works, Glen Davies, Transport & Logistics Safety Forum, CILT will give an enlightening presentation on Raising awareness of safety on the road.

At Scotland Works, Peter Harvey, CEO, The Fork Lift Truck Association, with Stuart Taylor, MD of Mentor Training will give the Scotland premiere of their excellent presentation entitled The Truth Behind Fork Lift Safety.

The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) exists to maintain and raise standards in the materials handling industry and leads from the front on safety with an expansive range of initiatives that take managers and operators A to Z through forklift safety. These include the Safe User Group, the Safer Site Programme, and a top notch forklift dedicated Safety Conference, to name just a few.

RTITB (formerly the Road Transport Industry Training Board) provide people working in the transport, warehousing and logistics industries with the tools they need for training. Thriving in its role of thought leader, RTITB offers expertise right across the logistics world from forklifts to lorries.

At the show, Gavin Hutchinson, Auditor & Examiner, RTITB, will give a talk on the Importance of correct forklift pre-use inspections.

One of the sponsors, A-Safe - the barrier specialist - will also be making a presentation with customer Michelin.

Simon Duddy, chairman of the Safer Logistics Campaign and Editor of Handling & Storage Solutions magazine said: “We are delighted with the strength of the Safer Logistics Scotland programme. Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning is also to present at Safer Logistics Scotland.

Visitors to Safer Logistics Scotland at the SEC on May 3-4 will benefit from key safety learnings from one of the world’s leading air conditioning manufacturers.

The team from the Livingston site of Mitsubishi Electric Air Conditioning Systems Europe Ltd will present on both days of the key event for boosting safety in Scotland’s logistics industry.

Attendees at the free event will hear how Mitsubishi promotes a positive safety culture in a big, busy complex containing 5 different facilities in Livingston with over 900 employees.

On May 3, Derek Smith, Store Supervisor, Mitsubishi Electric Airconditoning), and Gary Weir, Forklift Operator, Mitsubishi Electric Airconditoning will present on forklift safety initiatives carried out at the company’s Livingston facility, then participate in a discussion panel on forklift safety with a number of industry experts present, with plenty of opportunity to attendees to ask questions from the floor.

On May 4, Karolina Raszat, Supervisor, Training centre, Mitsubishi Electric Airconditoning, and John Dolan, Process Coordinator, Training Centre, Mitsubishi Electric Airconditoning will present on helping to create a proactive safety culture and participate in a discussion panel on the subject.
