DPD Group to open new distribution centre in Oldham

DPD Group UK is set to construct a new 60,000 sq ft distribution centre in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

The company has received planning permission from the local council for the facility, which will be operational by 2025 and generate up to 350 jobs, good news for what is officially the most deprived borough in the entire country.

Commenting on the decision, general manager for property at DPD Louise Ferguson said the company was "delighted" with the support it has received from Oldham Council.

She added: "The new distribution centre will be a state-of-the-art facility that will not only expand our existing operation in the region, but also help future-proof our business to meet the growing demand for our services."

She added that the facility will be very important in providing new jobs for the town as it gradually builds up its capacity.

Work is set to commence on constructing the centre soon, with the building work finished by next summer.
