Diversity Champion

To provide recognition for those who champion diversity and inclusion to drive business performance within the logistics and transport profession.

Entries are open to individuals who have made a tangible contribution to improving diversity and inclusion within either their own organisation or the profession as a whole.  The judges will be looking for an individual who leads by example and is clearly able to articulate the rationale and business benefit of improving diversity and inclusion in a way that engages and inspires.

Environment Improvement - Sponsored by The Environmental Network

Environmental Improvement

For outstanding achievement in the reduction of environmental impact and promotion of sustainable development. 

Entries must show evidence of reductions in energy and materials used, better use of resources and a reduced carbon footprint.  In the latter case, the judges will consider percentage reductions, rather than actual reductions of CO2. Winning entries will demonstrate conclusively through the submission of verifiable data, that the project has lowered the environmental impact of the initiative across all the measures taken.

Freight Transport - Sponsored by FORS

Freight Transport

For outstanding achievement in the movement of freight across any, or multiple modes whether regional, national or global in scope. 

Entries should show a demonstrable improvement in performance over a sustained period, and be supported by verifiable data.  Entries should demonstrate how an improved freight movement performance has helped the organisation achieve its strategic objectives in terms of financial performance, customer service enhancement and environmental impact.

Health & Safety

For outstanding achievement in any area of health and safety improvement.

Achievements can include road safety initiatives as well as on-site initiatives and collaborations. 

Entries may include programmes that lead to a demonstrable improvement in health and safety standards either within one organisation, trading partners or the wider community sharing the road network.  Judges are particularly interested those initiatives which are sustainable, transferable or that show an innovative approach.

Operations Excellence - Sponsored by IC Resources

For outstanding improvement in Operations Management.  

This Award recognizes the importance and impact of operations management in maintaining competitiveness.  The judges will not only be looking at innovation, but also at the smart use of teams to achieve significant improvements.  Entries should include measures used to improve performance, and in particular, the positive impact on customers.

Passenger Transport

 

For outstanding achievement in the transport of passengers by road, rail, water or air.

This Award is for excellence in passenger transport and can be for a small or large operation.  Achievements can include improvements in organisation, technology, equipment and physical assets, human resources, information management or any other aspect of passenger transport; infrastructure, quality of recommendation, excellence of implementation and environmental sensitivity.

People Development - Sponsored by XPO Logistics

This award acknowledges organisations that have financially prospered by taking an innovative approach to staff development, supported by an overall commitment to such development.

Entries will need to demonstrate a new and/or innovative approach to staff development, supported by an overall commitment to people development within the organisation.  Entries MUST include an indication of the resources devoted to training as a percentage of payroll or total employee days paid.

This Award is presented by the Institute to an outstanding individual who has made a sustained contribution to the logistics and transport profession.

Supply Chain Innovation

This award celebrates innovations that have enhanced and improved a company’s supply chain.

This award recognises innovation as one of the main drivers in achieving significant improvements and efficiencies within the supply chain leading to improved productivity, cost reduction, excellent customer service and increased market share.  Entries need to concentrate on one significant recent innovation or exceptional initiative that has led to a demonstrable transformation within any aspect of the supply chain.

For outstanding development in Information Management.  This could be using new technology, or using existing technology in an innovative manner.

Entries should demonstrate the use of new or existing technology in an innovative manner.  Entries will be judged with particular regard to how the innovation enhances the business process and to the creative use of effective user interfaces.

Transport Policy & Planning

For outstanding achievement in transport planning for the benefit of passengers, business and the environment. 

Entries should demonstrate improved methods for the planning, development and evaluation of transport policies, plans or projects.  Entries might include a particularly outstanding transport policy, strategy or plan that has been formally adopted; an outstanding scheme designed to improve a transport system or services, the economy, the local environment and public realm, sustainability, accessibility or health and show how it was successfully implemented.

Warehouse Operations - Sponsored by Toyota Material Handling

Entries should demonstrate continuous improvement and productivity utilising the most appropriate equipment, software, and a fully engaged workforce.  Projects could include both improvements in internal warehouse operations and in the wider aspects of operating a warehouse or establishing a new warehouse.
