Across London, bus safety remains a significant focus for policymakers, operators and communities. This seminar will examine the patterns that shape bus-related injuries, considering what types of incidents occur and where along the network they take place as well as comparing London’s safety performance to domestic and international trends.

The session will also explore the growing role of vehicle design and safety technology, including Transport for London’s Bus Safety Standard – a world-leading vehicle safety standard. The first suite of safety requirements for new buses was launched in 2018 and covered requirements for buses entering the London fleet until 2024. The second phase of TfL's Bus Safety Standard will launch in May 2026.

Our speakers are Hannah Bougdah, Senior Insight and Reporting Manager for safety health and environment data, and Lauren Price, Bus Safety Strategy graduate, both from Transport for London.
