Now is the time to prepare your entries for The CILT(UK) Awards for Excellence, taking place in September 2025. Entries open Monday 6 January for what is sure to be our most prestigious event to date.

Environmental Improvement

Shows reduction in energy and materials used and the better use of resources. Protects the environment and/or a reduces the carbon footprint. Demonstrates credible and audited results that can withstand scrutiny and evidences a holistic approach that considers all aspects of their operations and the wider impacts both up and down stream

Health, Safety & Wellbeing

Shows improvements in road safety and/or on-site operations. Raises awareness of key topics (such as mental health) that have led to a tangible effect on the workforce collaborates to achieve improved standards with trading partners and/or the wider community

Operations Management

Evidences a recent project that endorses innovation or team work, shows significant improvement in customer service performance or lead time and has established a market competitive edge. Demonstrates its ability to measure the effect of operational improvement techniques and quantifies the project’s success in terms of customer satisfaction and/or internal operational efficiency

New to 2025! Logistics Research Network

The award targets industry-focused research projects co-developed and co-delivered through partnerships between industry-based organisations and academic institutions. If shortlisted, it is expected that at least one industry and one academic representative will attend the CILT Awards Ceremony in September 2025.

Passenger Transport

Achieves outstanding improvements in passenger service, implements new technology, equipment or information management, demonstrates improvements in organisation or human resources and champions environmental sensitivity.

People Development

Demonstrates a new and/or innovative approach to staff development, has an overall commitment to such development and provides an indication of the resources devoted to training as a percentage of payroll or total employee days paid

Supply Chain Innovation

Demonstrates an innovative approach that enhances and improves the organisation’s supply chain, concentrates on one significant, recent innovation that has led to a demonstrable transformation in the organisation’s supply chain and provides comprehensive data to support the business benefits of the innovation

Technology Innovation

Showcases outstanding innovation in using new technology, or in a novel use of existing technology, uses technologies such as: IT, Big Data Analysis, AI and Knowledge Management (as examples), demonstrates business benefit, and provides examples of user interfaces and describes how the innovation was achieved and problems were overcome

Rising Star

Makes a significant personal impact upon the achievement(s) described, uses innovative thinking to raise standards and create best practice, demonstrates an ability to overcome challenges and has shown success in previous roles and drives their own career

Diversity Champion

Has made a tangible contribution to diversity and inclusion within either their own organisation or the profession as a whole, drives business performance within their own organisation, or work undertaken outside the organisation to promote the agenda and leads by example and articulates the need of improving diversity and inclusion in a way that engages and inspires

Logistics Best Practice

Demonstrates sustained improvement in the storage, handling and transportation of raw materials, subcomponents or finished goods. - achieves this improvement by deploying techniques which can be recognised as best practice, with transferable learnings across other supply chains. - clearly describes, with supporting data, the challenges overcome, and the benefits delivered for the organisation. Improvement can be measured as increased business profitability, improved stakeholder engagement or progress towards ESG goals

Individual award – Unsung Hero

Might not be in the spotlight, but their efforts play a crucial role in the profession. These members should be nominated by an employer, colleague or customer and should demonstrate: - Exceptional behaviour that goes above and beyond what can be expected and is not for personal gain. - Either over a long time of delivering excellence in a role in the field of logistics, transport, or operations management or in an exceptional specific set of circumstances. - A significant beneficial impact on customer, colleagues, community, or society If you are nominating an individual for the Unsung Hero category, your entry must include an explanation of your reasons for nomination and the individual’s personal impact on the profession

Read the guidelines
Put yourself in the shoes of the judges - what would you want to read?
Provide evidence-based results - we want you to share your success stories with us, which identify real examples of real projects delivering results
Make it interesting and inspiring - judges have to read through many different entries
The judges mark to a standard template - read the criteria and make sure you answer each point
Enter the right category for you - look through the categories carefully and choose the most relevant for you or your organisation
Check and double check - check everything carefully. Many entries include spelling or grammatical errors
The CILT(UK) events team are always on hand to help support and give you guidance if you are unsure about anything when submitting your nomination
