DHL Global Forwarding is the title sponsor of the “6Hours of Nurburgring” race and official logistics partner of the FIA World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) series. The company is responsible for shipping the teams’ 33 race cars, three safety cars, 1 T-car, equipment as well as 10.000 tires and 198.000 liters of fuel to the worldwide overseas race tracks. Since the early beginnings of this racing series, DHL Motorsport Logistics and Events, a department of DHL Global Forwarding, takes care of the transportation between the races and all other related logistic activities – providing ‘endurance at its best’.

“DHL has been involved in motorsports logistics for more than 30 years. Every time the WEC racing season begins, we still feel excited and gladly take on the challenge of bringing these highly sensitive racing cars and their equipment to destinations across the globe. The Nurburgring with its various track configurations up to 28km is a highlight throughout this championship. We are pleased to be the title sponsor in a place, where racing history is being written regularly since 1984,” said Christina Splettstoesser, General Manager of DHL Motorsport Logistics & Events.

With four races in Europe and five circuits located overseas the FIA WEC has become one of the most attractive motorsports series. 120 million TV-viewers in 190 countries over 36 broadcasters follow closely what happens during the races. The tasks of the DHL Motorsport Logistics and Events team is to ensure everything is at its place, ranging from organizing and booking airfreight charters, ocean freight and trucking, handling all the documents, coordination and supervision on-site to the management of all ad hoc shipments. This season DHL will carry out 22 charter flights transporting 2,100 tons of airfreight and 250 TEU sea freight.

The race is one for DHL when the race is over for the drivers at Nurburgring. Immediately after the award ceremony on Sunday, it is time for DHL’s motorsports team to prepare for the next stop. Within one month all racing equipment needs to be at the race track for the inaugural 6 hours of Mexico in Mexico City.
