The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s brand new CILT-TV initiative will be the backbone of a new and essential Brexit Readiness training programme.

CILT(UK), the professional membership body for those involved in the movement of goods and people, has received government funding to provide industry leading, expert led Brexit Readiness training.

At the end of August, Business Secretary Andrea Leadsom unveiled a £10 million grant scheme for organisations and trade associations to support businesses in preparing for Brexit ahead of 31st October 2019. The Business Readiness Fund was open to business organisations and trade associations throughout the UK and will support events, training and the production of advice packs to assist businesses in making sure they are fully prepared for a Brexit at the end of this month.

With less than four weeks to go until the UK is due to leave the EU, CILT(UK)is to launch a series of workshops and television training sessions to ensure that individuals and organisations in the profession are equipped with the crucial and relevant cross border customs guidance and best practices on how to prepare for the inevitable impact Brexit will have on importing and exporting with the European Union.

Broken down into two main sections, the CILT(UK) Brexit Readiness training is designed to incorporate business awareness and best practice applicable to small and medium sized businesses, and will include:
  • The Customs Impact: Supporting transport businesses to understand the customs impact of Brexit on goods travelling into and out of the EU
  • Managing Risk with Brexit: Developing an understanding of how to mitigate Risk in your supply chain post Brexit

In a ground-breaking collaboration with Cranfield University, CILT(UK) will be launching CILT-TV. Hosted via Cranfield studio CILT-TV will deliver innovative and interactive broadcasts covering a number of Brexit-related topics and issues. These broadcast will be accessible via laptop and handheld devices, making it easy for organisations to get this important information whenever and wherever they want.

Those registered on CILT(UK)’s Brexit Readiness training will also be able to attend CILT(UK)’s Bitesize Brexit half-day workshops. These short face-to-face workshops will ensure delegates can stay ahead of Brexit, understand how to manage customer expectations and will gain an understanding of the support available to businesses in a post-Brexit world.

Post attendance, an advice pack will be electronically provided to all delegates. They will receive clear signposting for further guidance and the correct sources of website information to support them and their organisation going forward.

Kevin Richardson FCILT, Chief Executive, CILT(UK), said: “Time is ticking on the UK’s exit from the EU, and CILT(UK) remains concerned that its members and the wider profession are not sufficiently prepared for a no-deal Brexit scenario. I am delighted that the government has granted CILT (UK) this funding, which will allow us to effectively prepare our profession for the challenges they will face over the next few months.”

The CILT(UK) Brexit Readiness training will be available from 14th October 2019. For more information, or to book their place on this free training programme, companies should visit: www.ciltuk.org.uk/BrexitReady or call 01536 740166.
