Public sector organisations put off cloud adoption by security concerns

02 September 2016/Categories: Industry News, Operations Management

Almost two-thirds (63 per cent) of public sector organisations cite the security of cloud computing as their biggest concern.

Results from a survey of 100 public sector IT decision makers commissioned by managed service provider Annodata suggested that this worry was in turn hindering the adoption of beneficial cloud technologies.

These concerns seem to be unfounded with research revealing that only two per cent of organisations reporting a security breach when using a cloud service.

A spokesperson for Annodata agreed that the constantly-scrutinised public sector should prioritise security but urged organisations to find a way to make it work so that they could remain productive and deliver better value and ROI in today’s digital world.

They added that smarter technology makes data and documents more secure than ever with document management using best-in-breed software and bespoke applications to prevent unauthorised access, limit device access to particular users.

Hosting data in the cloud allows organisations to benefit from regular hardware overhauls and the service provided by expert technicians, the spokesperson concluded.
