Davies Turner steps up apprenticeship intake

20 September 2016/Categories: Industry News

Freight forwarder and logistics company Davies Turner & Co has recruited a new batch of inductees for its two-year national apprenticeship and trainee programme.

The company has been running the scheme for seven consecutive years since 2010, with this year's scheme to include a record 15 trainees, who will be starting this month at the company's main freight hubs throughout the UK.

Most are either A-level school leavers or recent graduates and will be trained over two years, giving them the opportunity to eventually move into management and supervisory roles.

Participants will spend time in all of the company's surface freight and logistics divisions, as well as receiving an overview of its air cargo, central administration, IT and accounts departments.

Davies Turner's group chairman Philip Stephenson said: "We have an excellent retention rate at the end of each programme, partly because of our mentoring system and determination to open up interesting and responsible career opportunities for the trainees at the end of their apprenticeships."
