Network Rail has announced the appointment of Silla Maizey and John Mogford as non-executive directors, replacing Malcolm Brinded and Janis Kong.

Ms Maizey has 38 years’ experience in the aviation industry and currently serves as a non-executive director of John Menzies Plc, NHS Business Services Authority and Crown Commercial Service. She will sit on both the Audit and Risk and Treasury committees.

Mr Mogford has over 40 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry and currently serves as a non-executive director of Environmental Resources management, DOF Subsea AS and Weir Group Plc. He is a visiting professor in Process Safety at Strathclyde University. He will sit on the Safety, Health and Environment committee.

Network Rail chair, Sir Peter Hendy CBE, said: “Network Rail’s board plays a vital role, overseeing the strategic direction of the business, and delivery of our plans to build a bigger, better railway for Britain and create economic growth, jobs and housing.

“Silla and John both bring decades of experience in diverse industries and will be valuable additions to the board”.

Their appointment to the board of Network Rail is effective from 22 November 2016.
