History will be made this week when the first freight train to travel to the UK from China arrives at DB Cargo’s London Eurohub at Barking.
The service left from Yiwu in the coastal province of Zheijang in Eastern China and is travelling a distance of some 12,000 km to its final destination.
KTZE, a subsidiary of Kazakh Railways, moved the train from Dostyk in Kasakhstan to Brest in Belarus. DB Cargo AG then moved the train across Germany from Duisburg to Aachen, whilst Britain’s leading rail freight operator DB Cargo UK will run the service from Calais in France to its London Eurohub at Barking via the Channel Tunnel.
