31 January 2017/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Logistics & Supply Chain

Bradford-based logistics firm, Advanced Supply Chain Group (ASCG), has been awarded a contract with global retailer, Urban Outfitters, to run its Nominated Carrier Scheme (NCS).

The contract will see ASCG responsible for collecting and receiving deliveries from all of Urban Outfitter’s UK suppliers and delivering them to its distribution centres for next day delivery.

ASCG will use its Intelligent Logistics approach to give Urban a truly transparent supply chain whilst also improving speed to market and providing cost improvement opportunities.

ASCG’s Intelligent Logistics approach is to utilise their unique mix of tools; software, intelligence, experience, standards and techniques that enables them to revolutionise supply chains, including:

Bespoke IT services and software implementation

Dedicated research and development activity

Industry leading talent

Pioneering management techniques

ISO quality principles

Lean and Six Sigma practices

The initial NCS service will involve the implementation of a series of smart system tools which will streamline the retailer’s operations. Ben Balfour, commercial director at ASCG, said: “With the growth of ecommerce, consumers are ordering more frequently and in smaller quantities. Retailers like Urban Outfitters now provide an online platform which is a one-stop-shop for the majority of consumers’ needs.

“We will be able to use our existing expertise and tailor our IT offering to ensure that Urban Outfitters can react to an increased pressure on logistics operations, ensuring goods are delivered to consumers rapidly and accurately.”

ASCG will place innovation at the heart of the partnership, taking advantage of bespoke IT systems to ensure efficient and accurate operations.

Ben Balfour continues: “Visibility in stock levels is now more important than ever, with consumer demands heightened and retailers offering more and more variety. We are working in partnership with Urban Outfitters to improve its offering to consumers, and ultimately, provide it with a competitive edge and enhanced bottom line.”

Whilst stock levels are important it is just as important that the customer knows where there stock is, Advanced have provided full track and trace, on line portal visibility, android and iPhone Apps to follow the status of the inbound orders.
