Unipart Rail has acquired a controlling stake in one of the UK’s leading technology companies, Instrumentel Ltd, to help drive the digital modernisation of the railway.

Instrumentel Ltd is a leader in the design and manufacture of telemetry systems for rail, automotive and industrial processes.  The company provides products to give insights into operational performance such as through ‘real time’ remote condition monitoring and diagnostics.

The acquisition is an ideal fit with Unipart Rail’s growing reputation for product and service innovation, as they help their customers with the challenges and opportunities of the digital age. Joining forces will allow both businesses to access new markets and continue to develop and expand product ranges in the UK and overseas.

The acquisition took place on 3rd February and the existing Instrumentel Ltd and Unipart Rail teams will be working closely to deliver exciting new projects during 2017.

Instrumentel Ltd will continue to operate as an independent business with the ongoing security and support of Unipart Rail. The current team will all remain in place and the business will continue to be led by Dave McGorman as Managing Director.
