Port of Tyne picks up prestigious RoSPA award

15 November 2017/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Ports, Maritime & Waterways

Port of Tyne was once again a winner at the RoSPA Health and Safety Awards 2017. It is the fourth year in a row that the Port of Tyne has achieved the Gold award – the only UK port to do so, in the prestigious annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

Through the RoSPA Awards scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Andrew Moffat, Port of Tyne Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are delighted to have achieved the Gold award for the fourth consecutive year. It's testament to the huge efforts that have been made by everyone at the Port.

“Health and safety is our top priority tackled though safety training, awareness raising campaigns and continual monitoring. The achievement of this award indicates that positive changes are continuing.”
