HMRC’s CHIEF system - that handles customs declarations at import and export - is being replaced. The new system, Customs Declaration Service (CDS), has already undergone extensive testing and is set to go live on 12th August. It is essential that everyone in the supply chain understands how the changes will affect them and what they need to do both from a process change and a software change perspective.

CILT members are encouraged to get informed ahead of the implementation of the new system by viewing the below presentation as well as reading the latest Application Check Process that has been developed by HMRC's CDS Software Developer Readiness Team.
