James (Jim) Spittle appointed as the first independent non-executive Chair.

NHS Supply Chain is delighted to announce that Supply Chain Coordination Limited (SCCL), the management function of the new NHS Supply Chain has appointed James (Jim) Spittle as its first independent non-executive Chair with effect from 17th September 2018.

Jim has enjoyed a highly successful career as a retailer for over 20 years working in retail operations, procurement and supply chain, the latter being his particular area of specialism.  He has worked for leading brands, spending many years with Tesco plc, before moving to Kingfisher where he spent 8 years as Group Supply Chain Director.

Since 2001, he has held a number of executive roles and non-executive director roles, including as Chair of GS1UK, Cranfield University Advisory Board and at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) as past President and current Vice President.

With a wealth of experience and impressive commercial supply chain pedigree, Jim said “I am delighted to be joining the Board as Chair of SCCL at a time of significant transformation and do not underestimate the forthcoming challenges and significant opportunities ahead of us in the need to drive more value throughout the Supply Chain. I look forward to working with our team and our many partners”.

Jin Sahota, Chief Executive Officer of SCCL said “We are delighted to bring Jim Spittle on board. Jim’s role as Chair will be vital in ensuring robust challenge is provided; the interests of those who benefit from the operating model are represented and providing subject matter expertise to drive the success of the new NHS Supply Chain”.

Chair of the Selection Panel, Baroness Harding of NHS Improvement, said: “With Jim’s extensive experience in supply chain management and non-executive positions I am confident that he will be an excellent Chair of the SCCL Board. We are very pleased he has accepted this important role for the new NHS Supply Chain.”
