14 March 2019/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain

Wincanton has won a three-year contract with Banbury-based health, beauty and household brand distributor DCS Group.

DCS is uniquely appointed to sell and distribute for the biggest health, beauty and household brands including P&G, Unilever, J&J, SC Johnson, Colgate, RB and PZ Cussons. The company manages sales for the brands across wholesale, convenience, discount and retail, both high street and online.
The contract will involve nationwide transport, delivery and management of inter-site transfers of finished goods and stock.

Making around 100 deliveries per day, Wincanton will transport goods from DCS’s Banbury and Stratford-upon-Avon facilities to over 600 customer sites across the country.

DCS will benefit from Wincanton’s commitment to technology across its fleet, with in-cab telematics and GPS track-and-trace software supporting safety, exemplary customer service and resource scalability.

Chris Fenton, Managing Director of Industrial & Transport at Wincanton, said:

“We are delighted to be working with DCS to help them deliver exceptional customer service.

“With our commitment to safety and delivering results in a demanding business, DCS can focus on their customers in the knowledge that products will arrive on time.”

Denys Shortt OBE, Chairman and CEO of DCS, added: “Delighting the customer has always been at the core of our strategy as a business, and with ambitious growth plans in place it was vital to find the right logistics partner with shared values around innovation and service excellence.”

DCS has grown every year since it was founded in 1994 by its Chairman and CEO Denys Shortt OBE. The group has a turnover of £224m, and employs 380 people between its Banbury and Stratford-on-Avon site, which manufactures toiletries for major retailers including Aldi, Lidl and Wilko.
