Get informed: Movement of wood packaging material

10 April 2019/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Freight Forwarding, Logistics & Supply Chain, Operations Management

In the event of no deal, all Wood Packing Material (WPM) moving between the UK and the EU must meet ISPM15 international standards by undergoing heat treatment and marking. All WPM may be subject to official checks either upon or after entry to the EU.

CILT believes that this is an area of concern that has not been fully addressed that relates to the UK’s status as a third country, and could significantly impact the movement of goods on pallets between the UK and European Union in the event of leaving the EU without a deal.

Checks on WPM will continue to be carried out in the UK on a risk-targeted basis only. The plant health risk from WPM imported from the EU is not expected to change as a result of an EU exit.

Steps to take now to prepare for EU Exit

Contact your supplier or TIMCON if you need more advice about moving WPM after the UK leaves the EU with no deal.
