Debenhams brings distribution operations in-house

Debenhams is to take its distribution operations in the UK in-house as of 1st August 2019 as part of its restructuring plans.

Debenhams will take over the operation of the distribution centres at Peterborough and Sherburn. Debenham’s current logistics partner DHL Supply Chain has agreed to provide support for the next six-month period.

This will impact around 800 DHL employees in Peterborough who will be transferred into Debenhams, it said. There will be no change to job numbers.

Debenhams plans to close its Sherburn distribution centre in August 2020 and manage all of its distribution operations at Peterborough.
