12 May 2020/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Active Travel & Travel Planning, Bus & Coach, Rail, Transport Planning, Coronavirus

The government has sent a letter to all Combined, Local Transport and Local Highway Authorities in England, outside of London, stating its expectations of Local Highway Authorities and funding and guidance to assist them in what is termed the local transport restart.

In this letter, Emma Ward, Director General - Roads, Places and Environment, Department for Transport, sets out some of the key issues which need to be considered for local transport restart, including in response to the green and active travel package announced by the Secretary of State on Saturday 9th May.

She says: "It is essential that authorities now take the necessary measures required to ensure that local areas are prepared for this next phase."
