CILT members are being encouraged to take party in an online survey investigating options for how to transition to zero-emission road based, Long-Haul Heavy Goods Vehicles (LHHGVs). 

Connected Places Catapult is working in collaboration with the Department for Transport, Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, Advanced Propulsion Centre and other stakeholders to seek your opinions on their emerging thoughts on how the industry can make the shift to zero-emission technologies for road vehicles.

In June 2019, the UK became the first major economy in the world to pass laws to end its contribution to global warming by 2050. The target requires the UK to bring all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050, compared with the previous target of at least 80% reduction against 1990 levels. To achieve this target, a shift to zero-emission technologies for road vehicles is required, and this includes freight vehicles. However, there remains uncertainty about which zero-emission technology is most suitable for decarbonising road freight, particularly LHHGVs. 

Decarbonisation of HGVs will require many organisations to work together. Connected Places Catapult needs to gather quite a lot of information to inform its business case work and to help move the discussion forward.
