New Year honours announced for transport sector

A variety of luminaries across the transport industry have been recognised in the Queen’s New Year honours for 2015, which was released on December 30th.


The Department for Transport’s (DfT) Steve Berry has been awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his contributions to transport resilience.


Dr Michele Dix, managing director of planning at Transport for London, where she has worked since 2000, has been made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for her services to transport.


Another CBE has been received by David Middleton, the chief executive of Transport Scotland. His award is in recognition of his contribution to the civil service, where he worked from 1978, and his achievements at Transport Scotland. He was appointed chief executive there in 2009.

Henry Armstrong, who is an engineering technician at the Department Regional Development, Northern Ireland Executive, has won a British Empire Medal for his work in transport and charitable fundraising.
