Government begins land safeguarding process for Crossrail two

21 November 2014/Categories: Industry News

A consultation has been launched to discuss safeguarding the land on the proposed route for the Crossrail two development.

The consultation will run for ten weeks until January 28th 2015, and is aimed at ensuring any planned building work on the potential route does not restrict constructing the Crossrail two line in the future. Since most of the route will run underground, it is not expected to affect many developments.

The proposed route will link Tottenham Hale, New Southgate and Wimbledon, creating a connection between north-east and south-west London.

The plan is backed by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, as well as Transport Minister Robert Goodwill, who announced the consultation on November 20th as part of a £2 million feasibility study to ensure the plans deliver value for money.

Mr Goodwill said: ““We know London is growing, and Crossrail 2 is one proposal that could help to meet the expected increase in transport demand.”
