Smiths News has launched a new wholly owned parcel delivery service with Amazon as its launch client.
Pass My Parcel is a new service for consumers who want a quick and convenient way of collecting their parcel. It will involve Smiths News distributing parcels on behalf of Amazon, using a network of independent retailers operating as parcelshops to supply customers.
The service will involve a "unique and innovative" twice-daily distribution model to serve participating independent retail outlets, seven days a week, 364 days a year.
As a result, Amazon will be able to deliver to consumers 12 hours after they have placed an order, across the same day and next day delivery time frames.
Jonathan Bunting, managing director at Connect News and Media, said: "We believe that Pass My Parcel will help our retail customers grow their own business by offering an important new service to the communities they serve."
