A bus operator in Scotland has made strategic changes to its fleet in a bid to better cater for blind and partially-sighted customers.
Lothian Buses has become the first regional operator in the country to comply with accessibility standards for such individuals, a local newspaper reports.
Herald Scotland states that this company has signed the accessibility charter established by the Royal National Institute of Blind People. This document consists of improvements that blind people are campaigning for to make travelling around local areas simpler and hassle-free.
Chief executive of Transport for Edinburgh Ian Craig is quoted as saying: "We are determined to play our part in breaking down barriers that prevent people from travelling."
Mr Craig added how all of the buses boast low-floor easy access, while the newest ones provide next stop information announcements both on the screen and also in audio format for those who struggle to read.
