Jaguar makes Merseyside investment

20 June 2014/Categories: Industry News

Jaguar Land Rover has announced a major new investment boost for a car plant in Halewood, Merseyside.

Some £200 million is being invested to build the Land Rover Discovery Sport at the factory, creating 250 jobs. It will take the number of people employed at the plant to 4,750, meaning the workforce will have more than trebled since 2010.

Jaguar Land Rover Halewood operations director Richard Else described the investment as "a further boost to the region and to our committed and loyal workforce who are all passionate ambassadors for this great company".

The new money takes the amount of investment made in the Halewood facility - which already produces the Range Rover Evoque - to £500 million over the past four years.

Jaguar Land Rover has opened a £45 million press line at Halewood, as well as installing 260 new automated robots, laser welding facilities and new monitoring equipment.
