Whistl partners with ANDYSMANCLUB to support employee mental health

04 October 2023/Categories: CILT, Industry News, Logistics & Supply Chain

Whistl Logistics has partnered with ANDYMANCLUB, a group where men aged 18 and above can speak openly about their Mental Health in a judgment-free, non-clinical environment.

Supporting the mental health of employees is important to Whistl and they invited ANDYMANCLUB to talk to employees at its Blton Super Depot about how they can support each other.

As part of the partnership, Whistl is promoting the ANDYSMANCLUB initiative on the back of its UK wide transport fleet and encouraging access to one of the 130, and growing, groups across the country.

Andy Underwood, Disability and Mental Health Sponsor, Whistl said: “One person will take their own life in the UK every 2 hours.

“Men are 3 times more likely to die by suicide than women. Sobering stuff. All of these deaths are preventable and ANDYSMANCLUB are on a mission to help by providing safe spaces for men to open up about the challenges they are facing.

“As well as raising awareness internally, Whistl’s van and HGV fleet are being kitted out with AMC stickers to spread the word externally – look out for them on your travels and, more importantly, tell a friend about the great work they do #itsokaytotalk.”

ANDYSMANCLUB takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23 in early 2016.  Andy’s family had no inkling that he was suffering or struggling to the extent that he would do this, and as a result looked deeper into male suicide and men’s mental health. They soon discovered that male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50, with male mental health surrounded by well-ingrained cultural stigma in the UK.
