The number of delays experienced at UK airports fell to their lowest-ever levels last month.
Figures released by air traffic control operator Nats stated disruptions during this period totalled 329 minutes. As well as this being the smallest total recorded for the month of March on record, it is also the second-lowest 30-day amount since the 1990s.
The company revealed it handled 166,159 flights last month, an increase of 0.6 per cent compared to the same period in 2013. Meanwhile, ten out of the 15 airports for which Nats provides coverage experienced a rise in instrument flight rules traffic.
Cardiff and Aberdeen recorded the largest spike, witnessing a jump of 13.2 per cent. Gatwick and London City rose by 7.5 per cent and 7.4 per cent respectively.
Despite the positive news, Nats also revealed the domestic flight market declined last month, falling by 2.1 per cent against figures achieved in March 2013.
