The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK (CILT UK) is proud to congratulate our Rail Study Forum President, Shamit Gaiger, on being awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the King's Birthday Honours list.
Shamit has been recognised for her services to the rail industry over an extensive 22-year career. The honour acknowledges her significant contributions across various senior roles in the sector.
Before her current position as Managing Director of West Coast Partnership Development (WCPD), appointed in 2022, Shamit held influential posts at the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB), as Director of Strategy at National Skills Academy for Rail, and leading the Rail Sector Deal on behalf of HM Government at the Department for Transport.
In addition to her Rail Forum presidency at CILT, Shamit serves as a non-executive director for both Women in Rail and the Campaign for Better Transport, championing diversity and sustainable transportation.
"I was completely shocked when I found out, to be honest. I am very happy and flattered," Shamit said upon learning of the OBE. "I have worked with some wonderful people during my career and I would like to thank them for all their support across the years. This is a huge honour for me as well as my family."
Shamit will formally receive her OBE insignia at an investiture ceremony to be held later this year.
CILT extends its warmest congratulations to Shamit Gaiger on this prestigious achievement recognising her exceptional service and leadership in the rail industry.
