The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT UK) would like to congratulate Lord Peter Hendy FCILT on his appointment as Minister of State at the Department for Transport (DfT) in the new government.

Lord Hendy was awarded a CBE in 2006, knighted in 2013, before being granted a full peerage as Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill in 2022.

CILT UK Chief Executive, Paul Adams said: "We are delighted to welcome the appointment of our former president, Lord Peter Hendy, to the new government. Lord Hendy has consistently been a committed advocate for our institute, and we eagerly anticipate collaborating with him in his new government role.”

He was once London’s Transport Commissioner of nine years before being appointed Chair of Network Rail in 2015 and was reappointed Chair for a further two years in June 2023.

Lord Hendy will now be overseeing Network Rail’s part in transitioning to Great British Railways.

Other ministers at the Department for Transport (DfT) have also now been appointed. Lord Hendy will be working alongside Simon Lightwood MP, Lilian Greenwood MP, and Mike Kane MP, all serving as Parliamentary Under-Secretaries of State.

They will all be working with the newly appointed Secretary of State for Transport, Louise Haigh MP.
