CILT (UK) strengthens leadership with newly elected Board Members

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT UK) is pleased to introduce our newly elected Board members.

With their extensive knowledge and innovative thinking, they will play a key role in guiding the institute’s strategic vision and fostering continued growth.

The Institute looks forward to the positive contributions they will make to the organisation and the wider sector.

CILT (UK) welcome the following Members to the Board:  

Austin Birks FCILT, CEO of Verita HR - has been a dedicated member of the CILT (UK) since 1983. Over the past four decades, Austin has held various positions within the institute, demonstrating his commitment to the field of transport and logistics.

Austin hopes his experience can add value and strategic direction to the institute. He would like to make a positive difference within the bus and coach community where he sees CILT having a pivotal place in the future of the passenger transport industry.

Joann Robertson FCILT, Head of Supply Chain Transformation for Babcock International Group - brings a wealth of experience in the logistics and transport sector, with a strong track record in strategic leadership roles. Joann’s journey has been shaped by a commitment to improving operational efficiency and driving sustainable practices within the industry.

Joann believes by having a voice in this esteemed Institute, she can help steer conversations and decisions that shape a more connected and eco-conscious future.

Steve Cross FCILT, Managing Director of CenGlobal - has been an active member of CILT for over 30 years and is also a Chartered Engineer. He has built an international supply chain technology business which is now using artificial intelligence, IoT (internet of things) and big data to deliver supply chain optimisation, transport safety and compliance solutions. At the other end of the logistics spectrum, Steve has also run a public transport bus company with his son for many years. 

Steve hopes to engage with CILT members, logistics colleagues, university students, and young professionals to help shape the future of CILT. He will prioritise governance, financial prudence, and transparency, in line with the Institute’s Charitable and Professional Development objectives.

Commenting on the appointment of the Institute’s new Board members, Paul Adams CILT (UK) CEO said: "I am pleased to welcome our newly elected Board members to CILT (UK). Their extensive experience and dedication to the sector will be instrumental in advancing our goals. With their support, we are well-positioned to elevate our strategy and foster meaningful growth for the institute."
