TfL creates interactive bus stop

31 March 2014/Categories: Industry News

Transport for London (TfL) has announced the creation of an interactive bus stop.

Working in conjunction with advertising company Clear Channel, the feature has been installed at Piccadilly Circus and will offer passengers the chance to check real-time departure information. Details will also be available for the London Underground service and the availability of Barclays Cycle Hire bikes.

In addition, the new panel will offer citizens and tourists local area information, including walking routes to attractions, theatres and shops. Furthermore, commuters will be able to check the progress of their bus along its route in real time.

Leon Daniels, managing director of surface transport at TfL, commented: "If the trial is successful, we will work with Clear Channel to introduce the mapping tool to other key sites in London."

Consumer interaction with the new technology will be monitored over the next two months to see how the service can be further enhanced.
