John Lewis has launched its cutting-edge distribution centre in Milton Keynes, following a successful collaboration with warehouse automation specialist Logistex.

The 1 million square foot facility at Fenny Lock has retrofit the former Tesco facility, showcasing new technology designed to meet rising online shopping demands.

Featuring 60 autonomous, the warehouse’s mobile robots for handling storage containers are provided by Hai Robotics to enhance accuracy.

With more than 100,000 storage locations for totes, the facility also demonstrates significant optimised storage capabilities.

Logistex said the integration of Locus robots on the pick tower further enhances the warehouse's efficiency.

A key improvement is the installation of nine Pick to Light Stations, which have dramatically improved picking speeds to over 1,500 lines per hour.

The facility also employs Logistex's warehouse management software, LWS Reflex, to control materials handling equipment, alongside five integrated printer and bagging machines.
