TfL launches 300 new apprenticeship opportunities

06 March 2014/Categories: Industry News

Transport for London (TfL) has announced the creation of over 300 new apprenticeship positions.

Officials stated the roles would vary from 12 months to four years in length and claimed the majority of apprentices would find full-time jobs once their scheme has ended. Those taking part in the programmes would be offered a 30 per cent reduction in the price of travel cards and bus passes during their first year.

Transport chiefs stated they have created a total of 5,000 trainee positions since April 2009 and believe this shows a great level of commitment to achieving the mayor's target of forming 250,000 apprenticeship roles across the capital by 2016.

Mike Brown, managing director of London Underground and London Rail, commented: "It is vital that we retain and train highly skilled and motivated staff to help us deliver a world-class transport network."

TfL has been recognised by the National Apprenticeship Service as one of the top 100 Apprenticeship Employers since 2007.
