Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a)    initiate, lead and participate in scholarly research in their areas of expertise and be active in research leading to quality journal publications and in bidding for external research grants and applied research projects;

(b)    conduct research in related areas and contribute to the development of the Department’s research strengths;

(c)    supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects and theses;

(d)    undertake teaching duties at various levels in the area of Shipping, Maritime and Transport Studies;

(e)    engage in programme/curriculum planning, development and administration;

(f)     undertake relevant administrative duties; and 

(g)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a)    a PhD degree in a related discipline;

(b)    a proven record in research and scholarships;

(c)    substantial years of relevant post-qualification and solid experience in teaching and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research; and

(d)    qualities of creativity, initiative and leadership.

Preference will be given to those with prior business/managerial experience in related industries.  

Conditions of Service
