Ryanair boss claims UK must expand its airports

12 February 2014/Categories: Industry News

The boss of Ryanair has claimed the UK needs to expands its airports.

Michael O'Leary stated that the capital would receive three new runways, one each at Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick, and called for the process to be taken out of the hands of politicians. He also believed that expansion would be inevitable, as pressure would go too great for policy makers to ignore.

The controversial and often outspoken airline boss had no sympathy for local residents opposed to the extra runways, claiming it was their own fault for buying properties close to airports. He also called for the right for people to block the expansion plans to be revoked.

He added: "If you bought a house besides Heathrow, you knew where it was. If you're not happy, move." Current plans to expand the airport were also ridiculed, as he called the proposals to close and move the M25 insane.

The latest comments come three months after O'Leary announced he would be removing himself from the public eye.
