Warehouse supply levels have fallen 59 per cent than the supply peak of 2009.
Statistics from CBRE Group's UK Logistics Market Review show that last year, there was a decline in levels, with a total of 20.6 million sq ft of logistics space ready for occupation. The figures show that this is a fall of 21 per cent on 2012.
The north-east and Yorkshire regions did see a surplus in supply levels, but even they are experiencing a noticeable decline. During the latter half of 2013, 10.1 million sq ft of space was taken up last year, bringing the annual total to 19.1 million sq ft.
The study also found that design and build transactions were the dominant part of the sector, accounting for 75 per cent of new buildings. Investment in the industry has increased, with levels exceeding the highs experienced in 2011. This is due to the fact that significantly more single transactions took place last year.
