Confidence in logistics sector to trigger recruitment drive

28 January 2014/Categories: Industry News

Increased confidence in the UK logistics sector is set to trigger a recruitment drive.

This is according to the Barclays Employers Survey, which found that over half of businesses within the industry are aiming to increase their employment levels in the coming year.

The study showed that companies are looking to recruit people from all skill levels, from entry-level right up to senior management. Freelancers and apprentices will also be sought as part of the employment drive. Additionally, the survey reported that 41 per cent of businesses expect to increase staff wages this year.

Rob Riddleston, head of transport and logistics at Barclays, stated: "It is encouraging to see businesses looking to recruit more low and unskilled workers as they are essential for the front line of business growth." He added that the drive to employ management showed the sector that is committed to moving forward.

The Barclays Employers Survey is a study of 684 businesses throughout all sectors, ranging from small to multinational firms. It was carried out in November-December 2013 by Critical Research.
