Kazakhstan is expected to record a 7.2 per cent increase in total freight trade in 2014.
Research by Business Monitor International highlights how activity in the Eurasian nation is projected to pick up over the course of the next 12 months.
Across four key segments, freight traffic is going to swell. This includes air freight tonnage (4.9 per cent), rail freight (6.5 per cent), road freight (10.5 per cent) and inland waterway freight (8.4 per cent).
Part of the reason for the positive figures is the nation's ability to move large quantities of oil and grain through its extensive rail network.
With the Western Europe-Western China highway project currently being developed, it opens up the possibility of road freight being transferred from east to west with relative ease.
This is why trade using the roads is expected to grow faster than any other means in the next year.
