Transport for London (TfL) will be conducting important fixes and upgrades on the London Underground while it is closed for 24 hours.
This is an annual occurrence, where the network is maintained and improved during Christmas Day, one of the few times it is closed for any long period of time.
Engineers will renew track surrounding Earl's Court and re-align tunnels between Baker Street and Bond Street stations. It will also incorporate signal installation works and other equipment maintenance as part of TfL's wider Subsurface upgrade.
Chief operating officer for London Underground Phil Hufton said: "Christmas Day is a great opportunity for us to carry out essential engineering works across our entire network without disrupting passenger journeys during the rest of the year."
Similarly, TfL will also cease all operations on its London Overground, Docklands Light Railway, London Bus and Tramlink services, all of which will receive important workovers and upgrades during the 24-hour closure.
