HS2 taskforce visiting Yorkshire

20 November 2013/Categories: Industry News

The Growth Taskforce for HS2 will begin visiting Yorkshire today (November 20th) to promote the scheme's economic benefits.

This is part of the group's ongoing offensive across regions connected to HS2 to ensure they make the most of the rail programme. Yorkshire is one of the last to benefit from the scheme, as the connection to Leeds is part of the second phase, with completion due in 2033

When finsihed, there will be five hourly services leaving from Leeds - three will head to London and two will go to Birmingham. Likewise, there will be five hourly arrivals.

Chair of the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership and taskforce member Roger Marsh said: "We are determined to squeeze out every possible benefit from HS2 for Leeds and the wider city region, so I am very pleased to welcome the Growth Taskforce to the city."

These visits from the group also aim to involve figures from cities not directly connected to the line, to hear as wide a view as possible in each region. This includes people representing local businesses, councils and universities.
